The Power of the Arts is being honored with the AKF Award
The Working Group for Cultural Sponsoring of the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries e.V. (Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e.V.) honors the Philip Morris GmbH with the AKF Award for The Power of the Arts.
We are delighted that The Power of the Arts in its fifth year is being recognized by the prestigious AKF Award 2021. This year, the Working Group for Cultural Sponsoring of the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries e.V. has dedicated the AKF Award to companies that made adaptions in their established arts sponsorships or that created new aid funds and support programs in the context of the Corona pandemic. In the past year The Power of Arts has adjusted its concept in response to the existing challenges: Uniquely, ten instead of four award-winning projects were honored with the annual funding amount of 200.000 euros in order to support even more actors of Arts and Culture with their commitment for an open, diverse and inclusive society during the times of the pandemic.
“We are pleased and honored to see our sponsorship prize, The Power of the Arts, recognized by the prestigious AKF Award. With The Power of the Arts, we wanted to establish sustainable funding initiative for the socio-cultural project landscape that responds to social transformation processes. During the Corona pandemic, we made a one-time modification to our 2020 request for applications in order to reflect the new kinds of needs which had arisen. It was important to us that more initiatives could benefit from the funding in this kind of crisis situation,” says Claudia Oeking, Director External Affairs at Philip Morris GmbH.
We would also like to express our congratulations to the Dorit & Alexander Otto Foundation. They were as well recognized this year with the AKF Award for their project „Kultur hält zusammen“.
